Startup Idea: Retail Anti-shoplifting Shared Information App

Startup idea to develop an application that allows retail stores to share and track information about suspected shoplifters, helping prevention measures by keeping an eye on frequent suspects and limiting product theft. The solution should address potential privacy law issues.

I work in the retail industry. I think that there should be an app that can track information about suspected shoplifters that can be shared between stores. We don't prosecute, so I think that if we had a way to share information like this it would help us deter the ones that frequent our stores so that we can watch them more closely and hopefully prevent them from stealing our product. I don't know if this would violate any privacy laws, but I know that years ago grocery stores used to use lists of people who pass bad checks. So I can't imagine this would be much different. I havent' looked for a solution outside of work for this. the only means we have to communicate this info at the moment is email.
