Startup Idea: Retail Inventory Management App

Startup idea to develop a mobile application that uses photos of products to track stock level. The software will allow for easier bookkeeping of sold/received items, backstock, and generating reports/charts for order forecasting. Aimed at retail and merchandise professionals who don't have access to advanced store systems.

i work in retail. I also do a little merchandising. I work with products that change upc/sku quite often. i have the merchandise in backstock. that is stocked by other people than myself. I have tried to come with a system with pen and paper of keeping track with what has sold and what is in backstock seeing that i don't have access to any of the stores system. i tried taking pictures and use it as a reference instead of upc/sku. maybe a program that could allow you to use a mobile device to take a picture of an item and have some sort of spreadsheet that would allow you to make charts of receiving and selling and backstock? there has got to be a better way than having to count tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise everytime i am ready to do an order. something more independent, especially for the places that are not up to date with technology. giving me a better idea of what is selling and what i need to order.
