Startup Idea: Automated Photo Re-numbering Software

Summary for idea #127
Startup idea to develop a software that can automate the process of re-numbering digital photos by date, particularly after deleting unwanted ones, making the overall photo organization more efficient for photographers.

I am an amateur photographer. My camera provides sequential numbering for each photograph snapped. With digital photography I delete many many many photos. It's different from film.

My motto is to take as many as I can, because I can never go back, but I can always toss away. So for example.... the numbering system on the camera is something Sony has come up with. It's letters and numbers, but it's not date specific.

If I want date, I have to dig deeper into the meta tags. So a typical identification for a photo might look like MAVS3726, and then the next one is MAVS3727, and so on.

But I may delete 8, 10, 15 pictures in a row. So what I end up with is a series of photographs with numbers that are in order, but are missing big gaps in between.

So what I do is re number each photo myself. So once I have deleted all the junk pictures I start re numbering like this, by date: 101916 001, 101916 002, 101916 003......etc.

Well, this can really take some time. I've always thought this could be fixed with software.
