Startup Idea: Integrated Calendar and Messenger App Startup Idea

Summary for idea #1280
Startup idea to develop an integrated application that combines calendar and messenger capabilities. The concept envisions a calendar app with standard features that also offers a built-in messenger. The unique functionality enables users to drag and drop events from the calendar into the chat; friends can view and opt to add the same event to their calendar. Group chatting and event subscriptions are also part of the offering, optimizing event and group planning.

It occurred to me as I was setting a reminder for myself later in the week--why not integrate more convenient "sharing" functions into a calendar application?

I'm thinking of a program that automatically launches and most computers, once installed, and is connected to a user account. You're greeted with a large calendar display on one side (the right?) complete with all of your little notes that you can click on and maximize to see details, etc. There are buttons that let you easily create new events and so on. But on the left side, there's a pane that lets you access a contacts or friends list. Essentially, this app would also come with a built-in messenger, allowing you to communicate with friends.

The most striking and useful feature of this app would be the functionality to drag and drop events from the calendar into discussions with your friends. They see a little widget pop up in the chat window that they can then click on to view, and they also have the option of adding that same event to THEIR calendar. I'm thinking this would be incredibly useful for planning parties and other events with groups of friends.

You could even have group chats with more than two people inside, and drop calendar events inside of those so that they all can "subscribe" to the event as well. This is a thing I've thought about for a long time now. I'm a developer myself, so eventually this was going to be a project I wanted to undertake, once I've learned more.
