Startup Idea: Automated Microbial Colony Counter Software

Startup idea to develop an innovative software solution that automates the counting of microbial colonies from single HD images produced by a microscope. The software would be designed to work seamlessly across multiple operating systems, enhancing productivity in microbiology laboratories.

I am a Senior Environmental Microbiologist working for a Chemical Manufacturing plant. Currently, we do several experiments that require a lot of calculation manipulations when counting colony forming units (microbial colonies) on agar plates. This is a significant amount of hassle as it takes/requires a lot of time to count them individually. Currently, we have capabilities of imaging these plates through a microscope that can be seen on a desktop computer. If there could be a program that counts these microbial colonies from a single HD image it would increase our throughput in our laboratory. My company would purchase this software to increase productivity in other areas if this type of software existed. Currently we use microsoft OS, but are switching to Apple soon - so a program that is versatile would be best to capture all audiences.
