Startup Idea: Mobile App for Retail Price Checking

Startup idea to develop a mobile app that allows retail store customers to scan products in-store using their smartphones to verify prices. This could reduce the workload of store associates and improve customer experience while offsetting the cost of in-store hardware systems. This software will need to be compatible with existing retail inventory systems for seamless integration.

I work at a local retail chain. About 90% of the time when customers flag an associate down, it is to check the price on an object. It is annoying and takes up time. We could implement price check system, but they are too expensive. Instead, I think that we should have customers use their cell phones to scan these prices instead through an app. It offsets the cost of hardware to the customer and it is much more easily upgraded.
