Startup Idea: Desktop Reminder Application Idea

Startup idea to create a desktop-based software that acts as a personal reminder system. The application would facilitate users to jot down tasks with specific times/dates, triggering notifications (with customizable sounds) at the set times. Incorporating fun and interactive elements, like animated characters that users can interact with, level up or even train, could further enhance the user experience.

I would really like to have something for my COMPUTER (I don't use a cell phone) that goes directly onto my DESKTOP (I don't want to have to go into a website or my email or open my browser or open a program, etc, to use the feature) where I can make lists of things I need to do, etc, with times and dates, and when the time/date for that came up, it would notify me on my computer no matter what I'm doing at the time. Like it would pop up and be all "It's time for insert thing I typed" like say I put in "walk the dog" and set the time for "12PM, every day" then every day it would pop up at noon saying "time to walk the dog" etc. And maybe have it with sound, and you can pick which sound you want it to make, and it'll like ding or beep or ring or whatever to get your attention, and you can have different things make different sounds so you can know what it is just by the sound, like the "walk the dog" that comes up every day will make a familiar bell noise, and then an unusual or important thing like a doctor's appointment will make a different sound so you know it's a different notification.

back when they had "gadgets" for the desktop, there was one where you could type tiny notes and it would stick on your desktop and was always visible no matter what windows you had open, but they did away with those for security reasons. I think they formed a little sidebar over to the side of the monitor, but I'd like something that doesn't take up a lot of room, it only needs to go in a corner out of the way. Do you remember that old "office assistant" named Clippit? The little paper clip in the corner of your screen and you clicked it and it did different things? I LOVED THOSE! Some of them were like puppies and robots and whatever. I'd like to have that back, and it just hangs out in the corner of the monitor no matter what I'm doing, just a small little thing that doesn't take up a lot of room, and when you click on it you can put in things you want to be reminded for. They could have updates with different/new characters available, etc, maybe get the rights to use Disney characters or something like that. And when it's time for that event, it could have a little word bubble with the note you typed and play a sound. Maybe also have it so it keeps repeating the sound until you turn it off, so if you're out of the room when it alarms, it'll still be playing when you come back in (maybe have the option to turn that off in the settings menu if you only want it to beep once).

I suppose some people may like a voice thing, like instead of typing, you actually speak into your microphone, and when the time for the event comes it plays your voice telling you "go do the thing for this time" and then you don't even need to see your computer screen. I wouldn't use it, but some people would find that convenient I guess to just hear it say what you need.

Cell phones come with mountains of "apps" and whatever so maybe there is already something like this out there and your phone just rings/vibrates at the appointed time or something, but I don't have cell service here. I'd like something on my computer since I generally leave it on all day. I get busy and completely lose track of time, and it would be so nice to have a little character hanging out down in the corner that occasionally says stuff like "Tomorrow is your doctor's appointment" or something, etc. Since it would be an all-the-time service, it would need to use as little memory as possible. It really just needs a box that pops up reminding me of notes I set for myself (or at the very least, a tiny box similar to that old gadget app thing that just stays down in the corner with notes you typed to yourself) but I really miss those cute little characters that you could click on and the puppy would do tricks and whatever, I think some of them even walked around your screen by themselves just keeping you company. (Of course it would also be totally cool to do more stuff with the little character, like you could even train/feed the little animal or level it up or something, connect yours to other people online or something, have a few color options to pick from, etc, but that's more of an entertainment idea and not a "useful"/needed/necessary feature, that could even be turned into a sort of game or something)

Anyway, that's my software idea. I write notes to myself, but if I don't remember to look at the paper, it doesn't help! It would be useful both at home or work, anywhere your computer is turned on and for whatever you type in to be reminded for.
