Startup Idea: Research Article Summary Bot for Geochemists
When I was working as a geochemist at a junior exploration company, I had a very hard time staying on top of the current state of research in the field. Most articles published only provide an abstract as a short summary of their content, often leaving out important parts of the research to incentivize reading the full article. More often than not, I am lacking the time to read the entire article to get a grasp on the content.
Recently, I observed that summary bots such as ones used for example on reddit.com function extraordinarily well, providing a 40-80% shortened version of mostly news articles while still capturing the important messages.
I would love to see something similar developed for research articles, catering to private companies relying on their content, but lacking the time to capture the articles in full. We tried to solve the problem internally by having members of the team write up meaningful summaries to be distributed among colleagues.
