Startup Idea: Standalone Home Concierge Service App
I work as a software developer (and do activities like this in my spare time) and I am surprised there hasn't been a home concierge service developed yet. Families and households across the country continue to have to rely on paper shopping lists, signs posted around the house to remind each other, and so forth. While ad-hoc text messages and so forth can help in coordinating these matters, they can be intrusive because people often check text messages as a priority and not everyone works in occupations that accommodate that. We have several payment services, such as cost splitting services, but why not have an application that serves more as an all in one concierge or centralized place for organizing the common tasks that need to be handled by a whole family or group? This way you will waste less time having to make sure everyone is on the service for every little task and so forth. Finally I can't think of a better project for a 1-2 person dev team. I've tried shared documents such as google documents for the purpose, but as previously mentioned, all these services are split up from shared lists to payment processors which makes it a hassle to get everyone on the same page. In terms of search terms I've search for "getting things done" apps but these don't often have collaborative features.
