Startup Idea: Graphic Design Efficiency Suite
I am a professional Senior Graphic Designer with over 19 years of experience in the design and printing industries. In 2004 I decided to start my own small business offering full service graphic design services and outsource the printing. When I was an employee, the equipment needed to operate the huge, complex programs and files that are necessary for graphic design (and other fields), my employer paid for the best of the best equipment to handle a graphic designer's complex needs in a system. I've been in business for myself for over 13 years now and since then I constantly struggle to afford the type of equipment that I really need that can efficiently handle complex graphic design files and programs. Backup and storage is a constant frustration also. There are many things a software could do for me, but here are two in particular. A FANTASTIC file compression software that would REALLY compress the large files into very small files. I have yet to find a software that will do this. Winzip and the likes are good if you're sending multiple small files and you just want to send all of them within one file, but it really doesn't do much for file size compression. In addition to compression, it would be fantastic if there was an auto compression archive that could compress and archive files automatically as defined by the user of the software and also go right to the backup site, i.e., CrashPlan or maybe it could even include an auto backup to your own file storage / backup site. Now that would be the ultimate, but probably too much to ask for in one program . . . or maybe not because I'm asking for it! I would absolutely pay for a software like this and I have no doubt others in my field and other professions that deal with enormous, complex programs and files would not hesitate to buy this type of software. I hope I'm explaining the need correctly.
The second type of software would be to somehow give our computer systems more processing power, speed it up, make the whole process faster. Even though I make sure I always have "adequate" equipment, I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford the type of equipment I really need and should be using to make maximize the efficiency of what I do and I know that's also the case of many others! I've tried plenty of software that claim to speed up your PC - complete junk! There's nothing out there that really works, at least not that I've tried or heard of. That's another type of software that I have no doubt professionals in just about all industries would use IF it really worked!. YES! I've tried many and nothing works! The 1st example of the software needed / desired really doesn't even exist though.
