Startup Idea: Data Filtering Software for Journalists

Startup idea to develop a software solution for journalists that allows for easy data filtering. This software should also provide an easy method for cleaning out old data and updating with new data, and offer multiple stages of filtering for various output needs, like creating an app or a book.

I'm a journalist working on a data journalism project. I paid about $1,000 to have a MS Access expert create an Access program to filter the data for me in the categories I needed for an app, but I have to entirely clean out the program by hand – usually 50,000 lines of data – when I want to update the info and put in new data to filter. The expert already told me I'd have to do this by hand after I had used it one time. It's very tedious. I would convert to a software program if it could filter out what I need and have an easy way to clean it out to update with new information. Plus I need another program to re-filter the filtered program through as I want to create a book about the data and it would need less data than the app.
