Startup Idea: Crowdsourced Document Management System with Version and Task Control

Summary for idea #1751
Startup idea to develop a low-cost document management tool with superior version control, efficient check-in and check-out system, and task management capabilities across teams. This system would outperform existing solutions like Google Drive and Basecamp while playing competitively in cost against high-end tools such as Documentum and Windchill.

I've worked on crowdsourcing projects submitting documents, but there isn't a good low cost document management system with version control and check-in check out like product data management. Google Drive and Basecamp let you upload everything and new copies as new iterations but it either keeps the old versions too without over-writing (creating potential misuse of the old version). Check out and check in is useful but not available with either of these so someone doesn't upload a new version or incorrect version while the project manager is working on it Another lack for both these solutions is linking to tasks to say person A write M and person B write N and track as each request is accepted and then used by the project manager.

A data management tool with version control so you can see the overwritten old file if the wrong one was uploaded or better and task management across groups is a tool people will pay hundreds a month to use versus free Google drive and cheap (I think) Basecamp. It just has to be cheaper than Documentum, PTC's Windchill and other very expensive tools.
