Startup Idea: Advanced Route Optimization Software

Summary for idea #1768
Startup idea to develop a route optimization app that is user-friendly, versatile, and compatible with both mobile and desktop. The software will allow for dynamic route changes, location auto-prediction, 'check-off' features for completed deliveries and turn-by-turn navigation. The goal is to make delivery processes or daily errands that involve multiple stops smoothly manageable, thereby saving time and increasing efficiency.

I drive for Meals on Wheels, but in the past I have worked for a delivery company. I wish there was an App that was really good for making deliveries. For example, with Meals on Wheels, I pick up the food in one location, and then drop it at a variety of other locations, and then either return to my house or run some other errands. While there is some software/apps out there you can use for route optimization/route planning, they are all deeply flawed in several ways. The one I currently use---Best Route Planner--is not very user friendly, and does not allow for changing the route with any ease. It would really be best if you could use the software on both the computer and your mobile device. It's easier to type in addresses on a computer, but you might need to add in an extra address on the fly. Another problem with the app I currently use is that it doesn't predict the address as I am typing, so I have to type in the whole thing. It also doesn't allow you to "check off" locations. Therefore I suggest a route optimization software that is user friendly, allows for different beginning and ending locations, is compatible with both computers and mobile phones, allows you to check off spots you have already arrived at, and of course, has turn-by-turn navigation (or freeloads off of an existing navigation app). I think if anyone tried to plan their day with a variety of stops that they weren't familiar with, they would see the benefit of a software like this. And I think most people would be willing to pay something for it.
