Startup Idea: Improve Barcode Integration With Square Point Of Sale System
I have an issue with my companies Point of Sale software. We use Square point of sale software. WE chose this because its cheap and usually easy to use. We have ran into a few issues since implementing it a few years ago. We are running into problems with barcodes translating into our system. We have had to bring in new barcoding programs to make Square work for us. The barcodes do not work most of the time, but other times it does work. We are losing time on having to manually enter the numbers associated with barcodes on products we sell. This happens most often on 3rd party items which we sell. By this I am meaning products that are not mass produced, more so products that are produced locally and only sold locally. Locally sourced products usually sell like crazy and are both barcoded as well as numbered. I really think that if we didn't have this hangup this would allow us to have maybe one less employee or less man-hours dedicated to this issue. Every time we have to manually enter a code it requires managers approval in order to bypass the barcode issue. So if you are able to fix this issue or help with the issue that would be great!. I have tried finding solutions to this issue, but our management team really would rather keep themselves involved with the process of manual entry because at least with them coming and bypassing the system they are not having to hold cashiers or independent sales reps responsible if there is an issue or rather there is a mixup with the numbers inputted, making sure that none of the cashiers are entering the wrong info and allowing others to benefit from this.
