Startup Idea: Manufacturing Process Management Software

Startup idea to develop a software solution for optimized manufacturing process management. The software should be capable of tracking production items throughout the different process stages, with features for priority setting, due date assignments, process instruction additions, progress status overviews, and user notifications for new item workloads.

I work in a manufacturing company and our product needs to go through several processes. The product gets transferred from one end of the factory to the other. Often times there are orders that need to be filled asap or samples that need to be made to send to customers. Due to the product going through different processes it can be challenging and time consuming trying to track down where a particular item or sample is in the process. The most Ideal software would be something where someone can add it a priority with a due date and instructions, and once one processes is completed it will be transported to the next department in the process. Reminders or popups would be the most helpful so everyone using the software will know a new item has been added to their workload. It would also be very useful to have an overview so sales or customer service can see where an item is. Most of the time we have to call, email, or physically find the item. We have tried using collaborative software but its not the most ideal.
