Startup Idea: Software for Detailed Tracking of Goals and Outcomes for Adults with Development Disabilities
I am a Program Director for employment services for adults with developmental disabilities. I currently supervise 18 staff members and oversee services provided on the job for approximately 80-100 adults at any given time. Our services are funded by a variety of funding sources, all of which require some sort of measurable goal or outcome for the person receiving services in order to re-certify annually for service funding. We have faced some real challenges with tracking these goals and outcomes over the course of each year. There really needs to be a way to track these in different measuring criteria, such as did the person complete the steps for the goal independently, did they receive verbal guidance from a coach, did they receive physical modeling of how to do the steps, etc. Our current software is awful, and all it generates is a poorly constructed report that gives an overall percentage in these categories. This provides very insufficient detail for explaining each individual's progress to other people involved in their services.
It would be wonderful to have software that actually breaks down the sub-categories as far as how each step was accomplished and what level of assistance was required in more detail, and gives an actual quantity of times each method occurred during a week, a month, a year or a specified timeframe. We have existing software that is insufficient to really give the details needed. Unfortunately, not a lot of other software really exists for this sort of thing, because the need is fairly unique to the state of New Mexico's Developmental Disability Waiver program.
