Startup Idea: Digital Container Tracking Solution For Shipping Industry

Summary for idea #1974
Startup idea to develop a digital container tracking system for the shipping industry. The software would allow team leaders to view previously logged containers, access their detailed information even after they are marked as sent out, eliminating the need to search through piles of paperwork. Unique identification for each operator would provide transparency on who worked on each container.

I am a team leader in the shipping industry. We load packages into containers, lock them out, complete the information in the computer and send them on their way.

We sign in each container, then sign it out. Upon signing it out we weigh the container, get a piece count, and assign a bar code.

On occasion we run into errors with cans after they have been sent out, or need to look for them but once they have been marked as sent out the only way to pull up information on these containers is by searching through piles of paperwork.

I believe that the best solution to this would to have a system in which you can view previous containers that have been logged in on each scale, once they have finished to easily access information to find what we are looking for.

It would also make a world of difference if each person on the computer had a unique identification code for when using the system so that when looking back at each container we would be able to know who worked it. I personally have not tried to find a solution like this, although it has been mentioned in meetings. Currently we stick to the hold paper method.
