Startup Idea: PARTNER: AI Assistant for Law Enforcement Officers
Hello Justin,
I work in the field of criminal justice and I engage in consulting for police officers, probation officers, and correctional officers. Often times, law enforcement officers are alone in the field either investigating criminal activity or monitoring the community for public safety and ensuring order maintenance. Often times, without backup or a partner, being alone in the field can be extremely isolating.
In the movie Iron Man, the main character has a side kick named Jarvis, who assists Iron man with all sorts of details and provides Iron Man with much needed psychological support. I would recommend that criminal justice professionals be outfitted with a similar device. Currently the Alexa and Google Home Device market is being targeted towards the domestic/family market. However, I see the full potential of these devices being utilized by Law Enforcement Agencies by providing officers with simulated artificially intelligent devices that can be clipped to their uniforms. They can ask the voice automated device to perform background checks, write up and process reports, help with collecting crime scene data and logging information, and helping officers keep track of procedural protocols for engaging in arrests or conducting criminal investigations.
Currently the Alexa Home Device is highly interactive and extremely intelligent. However, I can envision it working optimally for law enforcement officers, by helping them enhance their daily routines by helping officers assess risky situations or alter command if an officer has been shot or is in danger by measuring vital signs. I believe these devices will be vital to improving justice outcomes, collecting data, and also maintaining transparency by recording officer performance and conduct at the scene of a crime. Corrupt behavior can be immediately recorded and sent to internal affairs investigators.
I would provide the acronym PARTNER "Paired Automated Real Time Network Enhancing Repository" that uses voice recognition and communication protocols to provide psychological and administrative support to law enforcement officers in the field.
Good luck,
SC.
