Startup Idea: Real-Time Point Tracking Software for Mortgage Industry

Startup idea to develop a software solution for the mortgage industry that can track and report on points in real time. The system should be capable of processing each task as they complete and updating the data constantly which should reflect upon refreshing the page. It should aim to improve transparency and competitiveness among mortgage underwriters.

I work in the mortgage industry as a mortgage underwriter. We are constantly scored on our performance based on points. One point for the initial underwriter of a file, another point for the completion of the income on that deal, and one last point for the final closure of that deal. So in total 3 points.

The issue we have where we work is the systems we use to monitor points is archaic at best and barely works. The entire system is based off a script that pretty much runs and looks for certain parameters and then it counts the points based on a yes or no output. The issue with this, is reports are constantly down, so we lack the ability to see how we stand against our peers. I am a very competitive person, so these lack of reports is something that impacts me directly.

What I want, is a real time solution to this problem. I would love to see a software that could run in the background, constantly going over files and making sure that once something is done, it reports back to the main database that its done and then updates the report. This report could be something that is easily accessible to every employee so all they would need to do is press F5 and the points would be updated. An even easier solution would be if the actual program we used just sent a report back to database for each instance of the file and just tell the algorithm to increase this employees production could by +1. Either way, it would provide a real time point tracking program that would help those figure out where they rank throughout the day.
