The tool should factor in the length of time required to complete assignments, break those into discrete steps, adjust as per off days or other commitments. Scheduling for long-term preparation like exams and monitoring progress over time is necessary. In case of changes in the plan, the tool should adapt accordingly. It should also keep track of group assignments.

A college assignment tracking and planning tool could be really helpful- not just something that simply tells due dates though. A tool that would incorporate the length of time needed to complete assignments, that would break the assignments into discrete steps and into blocks of time needed to complete them, and also take into account days you want to be off or have other commitments so don't want to work on the assignment that day. Some assignments are best if you prepare for them over time, such as a test: it's best not to study all in one large block right before but rather to study, to let it rest, to work actively with the material and recall it to memory over several periods over time. So the tool should factor that in when planning your work schedule. If in addition to regular assignments you have the goal of doing extra study or review it should add that in. If there will be a first draft due, then re-writes, then a final draft due, there should be a way to schedule these discrete steps. When work is completed, or if future work is completed early, the schedule should instantly adjust. If you change your plan and want a time period to be free it should adjust for this and create a new plan. You should be able to see daily and in larger increments the work you should do to maximally perform on your college work. If you need to do partner or group work there should be a reminder or prompt for accomplishing this, too. Each day, if you go to your daily to do screen, you should see a realistic and accurate outline of steps needed to do that day for your college work according to the parameters you input.
