Startup idea to develop a cost-effective software or app for pilots to log their flight hours. This solution requires a simple interface with multiple data entry columns for date, time, conditions etc., with calculation features to sum up total hours and provide totals within selected date ranges. Cost should be a one-time fee, disrupting current expensive alternatives in the market.

Hello i am a currently working in the airline industry. If you are not familiar with the industry it is full of regulations for crews as far as rest times, flight time, and total duty time. There are a couple softwares out that help pilots track flight hours but all of them cost a stupid amount of money. Anywhere from $80 a year to $10 a month for something that basically functions as a microsoft word excel sheet. If someone could make a software that would allow pilots to log flight hours in a nice clean, professional looking app or online computer program that would only cost the consumer a one time fee i think it would be very successful. You would only need about 12 data entry columns for specific things such as Date, Time, Night, Cross Country, IMC, Instruction, landings, takeoffs, route, multiengine time. As far as the software side or calculations it would just need to be able to add hours and if it had features that would let pilots select certain date ranges to get certain totals that would make filling out paper work and submitting reports a lot easier. Anyways i think it would be a good market to try and develop a good software for because there really isnt that much competition right now and electronic log books are new and upcoming.
