Startup Idea: Cost and Time Efficient Transportation Planner App

Summary for idea #2344
Startup idea to develop an app that assists users in city areas or college campuses in deciding the optimum mode of transport to reach their destination efficiently, balancing factors like cost, time, and personal thresholds such as maximum walking distance or maximum budget for a ride. The app would use location services, compare fares of various transport services including surge pricing, and account for user preferences & time constraints.

Uber, Bus, or Walk? Is it worth it? Hi there! This idea would thrive in busy cities or on college campuses. Here's the deal. It's 1:20 am in the morning, you're out of a party. Do you really want to spend $10 on an uber, or wait 20 minutes for the next bus, or spend the next half hour walking home? For broke college kids and for others who drink on week ends at bars, it can suck to throw money down the tube for ubers and it also sucks to walk long distances. Which one is best? An app which you could develop would give us the most beneficial option, while using location services, estimation of uber fares (including surge rates), other transportation options like buses or taxis, etc. A user would be able to set his or her preferences, for example, some people's max preferred walk home would be a 15 minute walk, while others could go 20 minutes. Some people's max amount they would spend an uber on is $5, while others don't want to spend more than $7. A user could set the maximum time preference they want to spend travelling home, for example, they want to be home in 30 minutes or less. By opening the app, a user could insert their maximum price preferred/distance they need to travel/maximum time they want to spend getting there. By weighing the various options, fare costs, bus routes, and time, the app will automatically give the user the best available option. This could even include a mix, such as take a public bus from point a to point b, then walk x distance to home. OR take the bus from point a to point b, then uber the rest of the distance. For many people who are trying to be cost efficient or may try to get somewhere the quickest and cheapest, this would solve a lot of thinking!.
