Startup Idea: Smartphone-integrated Retail Scanner

Startup idea to develop a software solution that allows customers in retail stores to scan items using a scanner integrated with their smartphone, enabling instant payments and reducing the necessity for multiple cashiers.

I work in retail. It would be more efficient if people could scan their items as they select them instead of having to wait until the end. You could have them pick up scanners when they enter the store that plug into their smartphone. They would just pay for it with their smart phone. IF they wanted to get bags, then they could handle that themselves. That way you would not need to hire so many cashiers.
