Startup Idea: Unified Home Automation System

Startup idea to create a unified, all-in-one solution for home automation. The system would be capable of interacting with different devices, utilizing varying protocols, and could be controlled through a single interface. Essential features would include adjusting sensor measurements via mobile app GUI, as well as having different apps correspond to a single command.

I work in the appraisal industry but in my personal time I'm nothing but a big geek. Almost every room in my house is "connected" in some kind of way. For example, every room has a light bulb that's connected to my home automation system or Echo Dots in most rooms that I can use to control my home with voice commands.

This may all sound cool, but with all these difference devices that all use different protocols and different apps to control, it's pretty hard to find a full, all in one solution to control my entire home. There's a few attempts out there, but they are still lacking features that should be available by now to consumers such adjusting sensor measurements via mobile app gui, or telling one app to do something and have other apps correspond (without having to use Tasker).

Again, there are some apps out there that try to tie things together but there's no total solution. I don't have a huge amount of programming experience, but I do have some, and definitely understand what would be needed to make this happen, therefore I know it can be done.
