Startup Idea: Easy-to-use Interior Design Software Integrated with Real Products

Summary for idea #242
Startup idea to develop a simple-to-use interior design software that allows the incorporation of real life products. The software should cater to self-taught interior designers with features akin to AutoCad but with less complexity. It should allow designers to present their ideas using actual products, and track the cumulative cost of these products within the design.

I am a freelance interior designer that has a bachelors degree in a different field. I am not trained in how to use AutoCad software. I also have not been taught to sketch overly well. I am interested in a design program that is both simple to use and allows the incorporation of real life products. The current market lacks affordable alternatives to AutoCad which is a shame given that many interior designers are self taught and do not have the time or means to learn such a complicated software. Also, with the growing popularity of Pinterest, people are more interested in actual products rather than just representations of them. I feel like being able to show a customer what I am talking about for their space in real terms would be really beneficial for my business. It would also be helpful if the program could track the cumulative costs of the products that are included in the design.
