Startup Idea: Integrated 3D Modeling Software for Architecture and Design

Summary for idea #246
Startup idea to develop a 3D modeling software that integrates seamlessly with various drafting and environmental analysis tools commonly used in architecture and design. The software should be easy to use for both general public and industry professionals, overcoming the disruptions encountered when transitioning between different platforms such as Rhinoceros, AutoCad, or Sketchup.

I work in architecture/design.

I wish there was a 3D modeling software that:

  1. Fits fluidly with various drafting and other modeling software (e.g., Rhinoceros, AutoCad, Revit, etc.);
  2. Fits fluidly with various environmental analysis software; and
  3. Is both accessible to the public and the specialized realms of the industry.

I have used search keywords - 3D architecture modeling solutions - for a solution.

Right now I use a mixture of Rhinoceros, Sketchup, and AutoCad, but going from program to program, there're always hiccups/issues that arise.

I would pay for a better solution, since architecture software in general is pretty pricey.

We already pay for similar such software, that does a poorer job at this.

I think there's some path dependence at work here, since many industries are already involved in the architecture/drafting realm, so a new venture into it could produce some interesting results.

You'd really have to approach it from a 3d modeling perspective though, since industry standards are pretty set around autocad for drafting.
