Startup Idea: Time Budgeting App Startup Idea

Summary for idea #256
Startup idea to develop a time budgeting app that marries task lists and calendar functionality. It allows users to divide their time into different categories of work, creating 'time budgets' similar to financial budgets. The goal is to help users manage their time more effectively according to their different responsibilities and tasks, providing a visualization of time allocation and aiding in successful time management.

I lead a very busy life with a job that requires me to wear many hats. I need to manage my time appropriately and make sure I am using my available time to full effect.

Time and task management apps are the typical solution for this, but everything I have tried leaves me wanting.

Both David Allen's Getting Things Done methodology and Stephen Covey's Put First Things First can be effective ways to organize and plan what to do next, but no software gets to the root of the problem: time budgeting.

I want to budget my time similar to how I budget my money. I know I have so much money now and will get more money at a certain time. I put this money into virtual envelopes to make sure everything is paid for with the right priority and I don't spend money I don't have.

What I would love is an app that keeps me from spending time that I don't have. I want to annotate my week, "budgeting" and blocking out certain times for different kinds of work (main job, home maintenance, shopping, relationships, hobbies, ect.).

Then I can organize my tasks and projects by those categories and insert them into the category slots throughout the week (spending my budget time, as it were).

Todo lists and calendars are great, but they need to married into a time budgeting app that lets me clearly see how much time I have budgeted for different kinds of work and give myself the confidence to say "no" to things that will interfere with that work.

I've tried all the apps out there. A list and a simple calendar app are the closest things I've found to what I want, but they are so clunky and clearly not designed to help me budget my time.
