Startup Idea: Group Payment Sharing and Trust Facilitation App

Summary for idea #2586
Startup idea to build an app that facilitates group payment sharing, essentially acting as a personalized micro-groupon. It aims to strengthen trust among group members while enabling cost-efficient purchases by splitting the expenses. The app is also set to create a system of accountability with one member acting as the leader and handling the payments.

Hello,

As a student in the US I spent $200 a class for books. So did everyone else in the class. Collectively we spent thousands on the same item. I did my masters abroad, and the students get together to buy one book, and make photocopies of the book for everyone.

Unfortunately the people in my class were not organized and didnt trust eachother enough to share the costs of a textbook and break copyright laws. Maybe if there was an app for facilitating this kind of group payment sharing, adding everyone in your class to the group for the item, and then spliting the costs of items, with automatic payment, there would be a way to facilitate this kind of trust to save money. Like a micro and more personalized groupon. Yes, there are copyright laws for textbooks, but the app does not need to be defined or limited by this. It does not need to be about sharing one textbook, and photocopying it for others. It's just where the idea originates from.

This kind of thing could be applied to groups in any setting- the social aspect would connect peoples devices through facebook, tinder, gmail, etc- and then would allow the group to equally divide costs, (for one item, or many different items) and facilitate payment to a leader, or to a merchant for the group- creating a system of accountability. Maybe in the app, a leader could be identified, the leader could be the person in charge of the purchase, and all the payments from those in the group go to the leader.

think- gofundme, but in micro form, like a gofundme twitter. Hope that helps!.
