Startup Idea: Royalty-free Music Recognition Software

Startup idea to develop a tool that allows radio stations to drop sound clips or songs into the software and quickly identify if the music is royalty-free or name the rights owner to avoid potential copyright issues.

I have worked for a radio station for over two years. It is part of my daily responsibility to create programming for the station in the form of lead-in sound effects and song clips before and after commercial breaks. A major issue with this is that there is no single source that I pull sound effects from and my station has had to issue an apology in the form of payment to a person who's music we used that was not royalty-free.

A smart way to handle this issue would be a tool on my computer that I could drop entire sound clips or songs in to and get feedback on who owns the rights or if it is royalty-free. This would speed up the process tremendously and allow me to finish my job in seconds what normally takes me several minutes or sometimes I am unable to discover who owns the song at all.
