Startup Idea: Hybrid Spreadsheet Software
I work in an office and use spreadsheets a lot. I also use them in my personal life to keep track of all sorts of things, for instance crypto currency buying and selling as well as genealogy.
I use both Excel primarily in the office and Google Sheets at home and the office (I do not have Excel on my personal laptop). When I work from home, a lot of times I store my work onto Google and then transfer it to Excel when I need to when I'm in the office. However, when I do this, sometimes I lose my formatting that was on the Google Sheet. I might be doing it wrong, but I haven't been able to find a solution.
My bigger idea is to have some kind of hybrid of Excel and Google Sheets. The transfer problem is one issue, but something else is that there are some features I like that are on Excel and not Google sheets and vice versa. It is also frustrating, inefficient, and confusing when I can easily do something on one program but have to hunt down a tutorial online on how to do it in the other program. An example of this is how the formulas are different.
So my idea is to somehow merge these two programs so people can pick which way they want to do something. This would also take care of the transfer issue. I have actually joked with my boss about it and asked her facetiously if she thought the people at Microsoft and the people at Google would ever get together and make program that takes the best of each. I really like having Google "office" programs stored online so I can access them wherever I go and I would prefer this new and improved spreadsheet to follow Google's lead here. As stated previously, I have had to look up tutorials on how to do these things online. I'm pretty sure from what I saw while researching, there is no Excell/Google combo. I looked in a lot of forums while searching.
Also, I hope I did this right and understood what you were asking correctly. I'm not always tech savvy so II also hope this was helpful and not silly?
Good luck in your endeavors :).
