Startup Idea: Customizable Plugin for Legacy Accounting Software

Startup idea to develop a software plugin that can be integrated into a legacy accounting system. The plugin should automate the entry of customizable equipment data in a standard format, streamline business operations and enhance data entry accuracy. It should also be flexible enough to be used with different equipment types.

I am working for a company with extremely old accounting software and the owner does not want to pay to upgrade to a new software for retraining personnel . One of the biggest challenges is how to automate entry in a standard format for customizable equipment with several thousand options available, on old software that the owner refuses to pay to update. A single person has the ability to enhance the software we currently use and has presented it as a viable option for improving the user interface for entry into the software. However he is only one person and we have more product than we have time for this accountant to reprogram his own software. If we had the ability to plug and play this software format with other equipment sold by our company at parameters we define it would provide a much more streamlined business model and would enhance user abilities to enter in data correctly rather than using multiple free text fields which create chaos in the accounting world. Not tried finding a solution like this yet, but am willing to try.
