Startup Idea: Art Market Value Tracking Software
Working in the Art industry - specifically as a online gallery owner - it is hard to track the current market value of the fine art prints in which we sell.
We have to manually search other online galleries and brick and mortar galleries to do price comparisons. Even for high end pieces. Such as items sold at Southerby's or Christie's it costs great fees to have access to auction results. This problem hinders our ability to be competive in our small niche., We have to rely on some websites that users input what they paid for prints or sold prints for. Also - there are many variations at times of particular limited edition prints.
Backtracking / the prints we are talking about range from $40-400 on average. If there was software that compiled actual results from similar galleries and aftermarket sellers that were factual and could be sent to us on a weekly basis to update or prices based on the market it would allow us to become more profitable as a company.
We have tried to find a solution and have failed. We searched / average selling price by artist or title. We solve the problem now by listening to our customers in Facebook forums, groups and provide surveys for abandoned carts if they pertain to costs being to high
