Startup Idea: Employee Tracking Software for Large Companies

Startup idea to develop a software that better tracks employee whereabouts in large offices. This system will maintain the in/out status of employees, their availability, and other necessary data to optimize administrative and customer service operations.

I am an office assistant for a large company. We have approximately 40 people in our department. Our staff is regularly out of the office, either to meet with other project teams, to go to a site to check on the status of a project, or for other work related reasons. Currently, we use a standard in/out board to track where employees are. However, this system does isn't always the best, either because the employees forget to check themselves in or out, because employees are moving from one meeting to another without a chance to change their status, or because the board doesn't have the functionality that's needed to track the data we're looking for.

During the day, as our admin staff are looking to connect with our project teams, it would be helpful if we had software that better tracked where employees are. For example, are they in the building, are they in a meeting, and even if they're not at are desks are they available by other means or are they unavailable until a certain time. Being able to track these variables would not only help our admin staff, but also our customer service department to best serve our customers.
