Startup Idea: Startup Idea for Retail Store Navigation & Inventory System

Summary for idea #2943
Startup idea to develop a software solution that will improve retail store navigation for both customers and staff. The system should let users search for an item (using item name or SKU) and then provide the exact location of the item within the store. Further, the software could display a routing map from the user's current location to the item's aisle and detailed location. An additional feature could be an optimized mobile app, providing rough real-time location and direction tracking.

This has to do with scanning/inventory, but not in the way you may expect, so I hop you accept my answers.

I work at a retail store, specifically that of a massive home improvement chain in the Midwest. The store is gigantic and both customers and employees a like get lost all the time, given there are well over 60,000 items in stock. There are no computers around for guests to use in the store, and there are limited for team members.

What I'd like for sure are at least two computers at the entrance for guests to use. They simply type the product name (or SKU, if they have it), and the store will not only tell them exactly what aisle it is located in, but also where in the aisle it is (as some places like electronics and hardware are overwhelming). Additionally, a map of how to get to that aisle from the exact point of the computer that would use arrows.

A smaller version of this could be an app on a cell phone that could give a rough location of you in the store, and the customer can see if they're headed in the right direction or not.
