Startup Idea: Startup Idea for Portable WiFi Device & Social Security Number Tracker
I am a digital nomad who travels constantly and works 100% out of a laptop. I often have issues with finding WiFi connections when I am not near a large city. My solution to this is to use my phone as a hot spot, but this has an unfortunate tendency to drain my high speed data very quickly. I have found devices that can extend my reach when looking for WiFi signals from businesses such as McDonald's, Walmart, Starbucks, etc., but I have yet to find a portable WiFi device that can be brought in the vehicle with me for when I am "off the grid". In my experience, internet providers currently only install routers into permanent homes. If this could be developed, I would be the first customer in line to buy it. It would help my business grow exponentially as I would not be limited in the areas that I could work.
A second issue that I have is that several years back, I had a particularly bad breakup with my now ex boyfriend. A few months after the breakup, I was rejected from a car dealership due to bad credit. I looked into it and found several collection accounts on the report. My ex had gone on a shopping spree using my name and social security number to apply for loans that he had no intention of repaying. Since then, other credit issues have popped up here and there and although I have resolved these with the companies, I have not been able to remove a few of them from my credit reports due to the fact that they were completed online using electronic signatures in my name. I really wish that I had a software that could track my social security number's activity BEFORE it was posted onto my credit report. Because right now, I have no way of knowing when it's being used or for what until after it has gone to collections. I have taken steps to change my SSN but until that happens, a tracker that could notify me of any and all activity would come in handy. I have tried finding solutions. I searched for portable routers, but only found WiFi signal boosters. These allow me to broaden my search range, but does not guarantee a strong signal or one that does not require a password that is unavailable to me. As of now, I am limited to either working near cities, or using up all of my phone data.
I have also searched for SSN trackers, but have only found credit trackers that only notify you AFTER an unauthorized account has gone to collections and been posted onto your credit report. Right now, I have to deal with issues after they have escalated instead of as soon as they happen.
