Startup Idea: Employee Attendance and Performance Tracking System

Startup idea to develop a database-type solution to track employee attendance and performance related notations for a grocery chain. The software should allow customizations based on regions, handle employee transfers, and renew dates in relation to fiscal quarters, holidays, and vacations automatically.

I am an on-site IT guy for a grocery chain. I created an Excel worksheet to track employee attendance and performance related notations. I am unable to find a solution simpler than PeopleSoft / Oracle. Our environment uses a point value system for attendance and has turned into a disciplinary tracking system. I have to recreate it every year due to current design. I believe a database-type solution that can be customized (points work differently across regions but will be the same for all stores within the same region) and can interact company-wide (employee transfers). I used search terms: people, employee, team, tracker, attendance, personnel, note, notation, file, HR, record.

I currently maintain an Excel Master spreadsheet for each department in the store and have to recreate it every year to reflect date changes in our fiscal quarters and black-out dates for holidays and vacation.
