Startup Idea: Collaborative Submission Review Platform for Literary Magazines

Startup idea to build a collaborative online platform tailored for literary magazines which allows multiple staff members to simultaneously review, comment, and rank submissions. The solution should also support features such as attaching cover letters and author bios to submissions, and direct commenting on the document itself.

I work for a literary magazine, we use a website to collect all of our submissions. There are around 20 people on the team, so we work in pairs of two to read submissions and write a few comments and whether or not we'll accept the submission. I assign 20 stories to each team, so each person gets ten submissions at a time. All stories have to be looked at by at least two readers.

As of now, the thing that's not working well is that the system only lets one person be assigned to submission at a time. And once that person is done, they can send it over to their partner. This causes conflicts because although there is one deadline, some work better at different paces.

A solution to this problem would be having a collaborative online system that also accepts submissions. Multiple people can be assigned the same stories and still be able to comment/rank submissions.

It would be necessary to also be able to comment directly on the document as well as have a place where the submitter can include a short cover letter and bio.
