Startup Idea: Automated Room Assignment and Request Visibility for Visual Matrix

Startup idea to develop an addition to the Visual Matrix hotel booking software that auto-assigns rooms based on booking order, accounts for special requests, and displays these requests on the main system screen. The solution would also need to have the flexibility to be overridden when necessary and be compatible with the existing Visual Matrix system.

I am a front desk clerk at a hotel which uses Visual Matrix for booking purposes. Under the current system, if a guest reserves a room online and makes a special request, that request is not visible on the main screen and is often missed by less than diligent clerks. Also, because rooms are not assigned until the day of the reservation, it is possible that someone who walks in that day (before the clerk has had a chance to complete room assignments)will receive a room requested by a guest who booked months in advance. The solution, in my opinion, would be a system that would auto-assign rooms on the day of the reservation, factoring in special requests on a first booked first served basis. Obviously, there will be some kinks to this idea as the system would need to wait until prior guests are checked out and the room is marked clean and there would need to be an option to override the room assignment if necessary. Also, this software would likely to need to be incorporated into the existing Visual Matrix system as that is what the hotel currently uses and is unlikely to change.
