Startup Idea: Communication App for Non-Verbal Individuals

Summary for idea #3181
Startup idea to develop a user-friendly app for non-verbal individuals, particularly those with autism, which allows caregivers to use personalized images as communication symbols. Touching each symbol should activate a voice output with the corresponding label. The app should be compatible with both phone and tablet devices.

I work as a caregiver (paid) for my son who is autistic and nonverbal. I would LOVE to find an app or program that allowed nonverbal individuals to communicate that wasn't super difficult or complicated to use. There are programs we've tried, but they aren't very user friendly. Ideally I would like to be able to snap pictures with my phone, and be able to label them and use them as the symbols that he could point to to choose an activity or item. It would be great if it was also compatible with both a phone and tablet. The person would tap on the photo and Siri would pronounce the name of the icon. Yes, we've tried different programs but they're all pretty complex. If I can't begin to figure it out, it's not going to work for DS who is at the level of differentiating between a field of 2.
