Startup Idea: Global Networking Platform for Material Suppliers and Manufacturers

Startup idea to develop a software that can connect material suppliers and manufacturers worldwide. The platform should make it possible for the companies to share key material information and offer a rating and contact system similar to LinkedIn.

I work as an engineer at a company that specializes in designing and shipping steel I-beams for construction.

We are always looking for new suppliers for materials required for development. There is no real way for us to get into contact with worldwide distributors unless they approach us first.

There could definitely be a use for software that is developed to network suppliers with manufacturers, like my company, from all over the world. I believe that this would help us increase our profit margins as well as open up new business opportunities with other companies. They could use the software to show the origins of their metals, what the iron content is etc.

I believe a rating system that anyone could have access to would be worth implementing as well as a system where the different companies could easily contact one another similar to a linked-in type of software.
