Startup Idea: Efficient ERP Module for Shopping Cart Item Creation
I work with business ideas on a daily basis. We have a tendency to grow the companies that we like and watch them mature. Recently, some of our companies have switched over to SAAS ERP software that allows them to be creative and build an entire company presence online for their firm. The problem that most of the managers have is that they have a large cost associated with hosting an ERP that takes up too much bandwidth and resources. Sometimes, that hosting cost can torpedo a small new venture because it is so resource-intensive.
What they have expressed an interest in is an ERP module that allows for shopping cart item creation without using too many resources. If you check the top open-source options, you'll see that small companies are being asked to provide at least 2 gb of memory to host many systems. In reality, 3 or 4 gb is probably better to optimize performance. The culprit remains the wysiwyg web site builder. If they had a different (better) module to create a website, they could probably take that down to 768 mb, which may generate a lot of sales.... or at least interest because it would allow companies to scale without a lot of paid-in overhead.
