Startup Idea: PDF Data Extraction Software

Startup idea to develop a software which enables users to tag text data in scanned PDFs and export it directly to an Excel spreadsheet. This can particularly aid in tasks like extraction of contact information and other data categories in office administration and clerical duties.

I work in office administration in a law firm.

Often data from other parties is provided to us in scanned PDF format and this data needs to be copy-pasted into an Excel spreadsheet. This can be very time consuming and a big pain for the person who has to to the work.

The ideal solution would be a software that allows to tag the text information in the PDF than export the tagged PDF text into an Excel spreadsheet.

For example, if a PDF contains contact information for different people, I wish I could tag with a mouseclick Name1, Name2, Name3, etc. then tag Phone1, Phone2, Phone3, etc., Email1, Email2, Email3, etc. then export everything tagged on the page into an Excel document.
