Startup Idea: Texture Generator Software for Digital Artists

Startup idea to develop a standalone software or plugin that generates random textures for use in digital art creation, a tool that can be set to generate textures by theme, such as smoke, thus eliminating issues with image rights and cost of buying stock images. The software would provide a more cost effective way to obtain textures for digital artists.

I work as a graphic designer but am also a digital artist doing my own independent projects on the side. I really like doing digital art but going to stock libraries to find textures for photoshop can be expensive if it's a complicated project. For example, a texture in photoshop is essentially an image layered over another object that changes how the image it covers looks. So you can layer a smoke texture over a bright blue sky to darken it and give it a different look and feel. Something that would help designers would be either standalone software or a plugin that automatically generates textures by common themes - select "Generate Smoke" in the software for instance and it will generate a smoky texture image at random so that there are no image rights-conflicts with using it. It sounds oddly specific but a way to generate random texture files by theme would help designers out a ton and could be easily part of a suite that offers other tools as well. I would pay money for that software now to save on buying stock in the long run.

I go to paid stock libraries, or occasionally find free equivalents, but it's be cheaper and faster to generate them at random since they don't need to be too specific.
