Startup Idea: Storage Space Management Software

Startup idea to develop a software program that effectively manages and optimizes storage space in PC and storage devices. The idea is to have a program that tracks file access frequency and suggests deletion or compression of infrequently-used files. This will aid in freeing up storage space without the need for investing in additional hard drives.

Hello, I work in the Electrical industry, but I have a deep hobby with computers, and software.

I have and idea, for a problem that my friends, and I face on various occasions. The problem is as follows: Managing, and finding space on a hard drive/other storage media.

It would be wonderful to have a program, that tracks when, and how often certain files, and programs are accessed. An example as this could be, you have some DVD's ripped to a storage media device, but have never/been a while since it's been played.

This program could see that, and after a certain time after files are not accessed, say 60 days, it lets you know, and asks if you would like to delete, or even compress the stated files.

This would be a great thing to have, as finding storage space, without having to but more storage, would be great; as people often overlook/forget about thing stored on their media drives.

I would pay a one-time fee to use a software program like this, as this would solve a lot of problems in my, and my friends lives. I think that this is a good idea, that is not too overly complex, but is easy, and potent enough, to be developed. Thanks!. I have tried finding solutions, but nothing works in the way that I am looking for, as stated in my previous answer. I manually monitor, and manage my storage media, but it has become a hassle, and quite frankly overwhelming.
