Startup Idea: Integrated Asset Tracking System for Data Centers

Startup idea to develop an effective asset tracking system for data centers that integrates with multiple software services e.g., CMDB, finance software, etc. This system would incorporate the use of RFID tags, a robust database, handheld scanners, and user-friendly UI for efficient management of physical devices.

I work with servers and in a Data Center some of the time. One of the things we need the most is a GOOD asset tracking system that links to multiple other software services like our CMDB, finance software for depreciation, etc. We would need some kind of RFID tags for the physical devices and a database to input all of the data and talk to other programs, etc. We would need handheld scanners and a UI that is easily managed and easy to learn.

I would pay for this software, assuming I was able to POC it out for a lengthy period of time in order to get a REAL feel for what it could do.

If all of the above criteria were met, this would save lots of time and man hours that are currently spent tracking this stuff.
