Startup Idea: Shift Schedule Automation Software for EMT Teams

Summary for idea #354
Startup idea to develop a software that helps volunteer EMT squads automatically manage, track, and distribute shift schedules. Volunteers could 'bid' for preferred shifts, with priority given to those who have not held that shift before. The system aims to create a fair schedule for all team members.

I work for a volunteer EMT squad. There is no system to keep track of who takes shifts, aside from a time sheet posted in the building. It would be nice if the entire system could be automated and people could "bid" for shifts. Some people take the same shifts every week and it's quite frustrating when someone else wants that shift because of a different obligation. A system that could efficiently track shifts that are taken and give priority to those who have never held that shift would be ideal. This gives everyone a fair shot at having a shift that would work in their schedule as opposed to taking whatever is left because someone wants to have the same shift every week. This would probably be a combination of google forms and google calendar. It would be nice if this software was seamlessly put together into one program that the entire ambulance squad could utilize.
