Startup Idea: P2P Textbook Trading Platform for Students

Summary for idea #3540
Startup idea to develop a website or app that enables students to trade textbooks directly amongst each other. This would save students money on buying and selling textbooks, compared to prices offered by big online retailers. It would also bring more convenience as exchanges could be conducted directly on campus.

As a student, I have had to buy textbooks from online giants like Amazon and Chegg which is also good for books. All college students would agree that most books cost a fortune to buy at these book stores and after barely using them after the semester, when you go to return them, you get 40-80% less money than what you bought it for. Not to mention, these companies buy back books from you and sell them at roughly the old book's price.

I wish there was an app or some sort of website, where students could just interact with each other and tell them that they have a book to sell of the class others are going to be taking next semester. This way, those who are looking to buy a book for $150 could get from a fellow student for even $130 and would be better off.

The other person would be better off too because that same book would be bought back by the previous seller for $90. It is better to sell books to fellow students than to sell them back to the books companies and then, these companies sell them forward with roughly the same price.

It is also going to be easier, time and cost efficient, as students can just have other students hand over books while on campus and not necessarily would have to wait for their books to be shipped and delivered.
