After working several summer jobs over the course of my academic career, one thing that I think software could improve on for small business would show time tables online. A lot of the places I worked at would just print out the schedule for the week and post it at the job site, making some employees hone in when their next shifts were.

A simple tool that could organized these times slots and label employees with days they cannot fill into a simple drag and drop type of format would be very helpful and easy to use for some of the rather technological illiterate managers.

The tool could be expanded upon or more personalized to show employee profiles for management. This could show current shift schedules, how many sick days they have, vacation time left, complaints filed against them, etc. I have heard about similar ones for different companies, but they are never quite as personalized and just the base time table online.
