Startup Idea: Interactive Online Protocol Database for Scientists

Summary for idea #3683
Startup idea to create a user-upgradable online software for research scientists, particularly those in the field of biology, that ends up serving as a dynamically evolving database of lab protocols. It would primarily incorporate user-generated step-by-step instructions for various techniques, supplemented with the scientific logic behind each action. This could simplify knowledge sharing and accelerate onboarding to unfamiliar lab procedures.

I am a research scientist and I work in the field of biology, mostly in the lab. Most of our techniques have protocols that are widely available over the internet, but come from people's perspective, and often as a new user for a technique that I'm not familiar with, it's hard to understand the logic behind each step. Most of these are in the form of someone asking a question that gathers a couple responses.

It would be amazing to have an online software that could be upgraded by people to include new knowledge, but which specifically provides them tabs such as " add reagent a, provide one line explanation for the step".

Over time, it could end up looking like a database of protocols with annotations made by other scientists. I have to manually go into people's posts or protocol websites and manually annotate the protocol as per my needs.
