I worked for a computer repair company for 4 years. We would repair the software on the computers. Something that we did not have was a basic system that would allow us to organize and do a search on our knowledge base articles.

There was a hand written list with random URLS and at one point we just had a giant file with thousands of word documents that were not organized in any comprehensive way to where we could easily search a term that would be in the title of the article which would have the guide or instructions on how to repair that particular computers' issue.

This is very important because we have to give a client a time frame on when their computer would be ready for pick up, however, it took time to even figure this estimate out because we had to find the article or guide either on the handwritten list or in the giant file.

This takes up so much time; and can be fixed with a customized software system to organize all of it. While I am not directly responsible for the financial decisions regarding the company and its supplies, I would be willing to push my boss to purchase a software made just for this purpose that is reasonably priced.

Yes, however my boss did not want to pay for any other 'bells and whistles' that the other programs had along with what we needed. In other words it wasn't custom made, and therefore, the price itself was not custom either. (Hes a penny pincher).
